Brands we cover but earn nothing from are still reviewed on the same basis, and several of them rank above brands that do pay us.

How we stop commission corrupting the rankings

Two rules. First, rankings are derived from published specifications and independent measurements, which are cited on each page so you can check the reasoning yourself. Second, we never adjust an order after seeing what a program pays.

The easiest way to audit this is to compare our guides against the commission rates: the highest paying program in this category pays 20 percent, and it does not top most of our lists.

What we do not accept

We do not take payment for a specific placement or ranking position, and we do not publish sponsored reviews presented as editorial. If that ever changes it will be labelled unmistakably on the page it affects.
