How this site works
Red light therapy is a category built on unverifiable numbers. Here is exactly where ours come from.
What we do
We track 107 red light therapy devices and record the specifications their manufacturers publish: peak wavelengths, emitter counts, coverage area, power draw, regulatory status, warranty and returns. Every device page lists the source URLs those numbers came from.
How we handle irradiance
Irradiance is the most gamed number in this category. Brands measure it at whatever distance produces the largest figure, often at zero distance and often quoting the peak rather than the average across the panel.
So we label every irradiance figure explicitly. If it comes from the brand, we say it is a brand claim. If an independent tester has measured the device, we use their figure and name the difference. Where the gap is large, as it often is, that gap is part of the review.
What we do not do
We do not invent scores. There is no proprietary ten point rating here, because a number like that would be our opinion dressed up as measurement. Rankings come from the specs, and we tell you which spec decided the order.
We do not fill gaps with estimates. When a manufacturer does not publish a figure, the page says not published. That is more useful than a plausible guess.
How we make money
Affiliate commission. When you buy through a link here, the retailer pays us a percentage at no extra cost to you. Commission rates in this category vary from about 4 percent to 20 percent depending on the brand.
That creates an obvious incentive problem, so here is our rule: commission rate never affects ranking order. The highest paying programs in this category are not the ones topping our lists, which you can verify by reading the guides. Full detail on the disclosure page.
Medical claims
Nothing here is medical advice. We describe devices as FDA cleared only where a clearance exists, and we note what it was cleared for, because clearance is specific and is not the same as FDA approval. We avoid claiming any device treats or cures a condition, because the evidence does not support that and the regulators are right to police it.
Corrections
Prices move constantly in this category and specs change between product revisions. Everything on the site was last verified August 31, 2026. If you find something wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change.
